Decription: Why do people desire power? Is violence the way to power? Is this the allure of Game of Thrones? Join us on September 19th as we delve into these dilemmas of human nature and society.

This 3-hour program, made possible by a grant from Arizona Humanities, will analyze conflicting aspects of medieval violence and hierarchy, comparing political history with the fiction of the Game of Thrones. As a novel adapted as an HBO television series, Game of Thrones develops densely constructed worlds suffused with magical thinking. These elements of class, of violence and of the supernatural, constitute the focus for a program that opens up new areas of inquiry.

Please let us know what you think, any kind of feedback is highly appreciated.
