About author: I started Lost Lustre on a train ride back from NYC and I was sorry when the train pulled into my station because it meant I had to stop reading. Josh Karlen is a superb craftsman of words. His writing is lean, taut, often understated. His topic is about growing up in what was then the mean streets of the lower East Side and coming of age in a very different NY of the 60s and 70s.
